Story & Atmosphere
Fatira restaurant - Arabic cuisines, located at Breiter Weg 35 in the heart of Magdeburg-Altstadt, offers an authentic taste of Arabic culinary tradition. This cozy spot has quickly become a favorite for both locals and visitors seeking genuine Middle Eastern flavors at reasonable prices. The restaurant’s standout dish is undoubtedly the shawarma, praised consistently for its perfect balance of tender, spiced chicken wrapped with fresh vegetables and creamy white sauce. It captures the essence of traditional Arabic street food while maintaining affordability, making it an ideal choice for a satisfying meal.
Beyond the shawarma, Fatira’s menu extends to diverse offerings like their special fajita pizza and the rich, smoky moutabal, both of which have garnered compliments for bold flavors and hearty portions. The baklava, a classic Arabic dessert, offers a sweet finish, although some may find its sweetness a bit intense, which speaks to the authentic preparation rather than an overly commercialized taste. The ambiance adds to the experience, with a warm, inviting interior that reflects Middle Eastern hospitality. While some critiques mention the absence of veggies in certain dishes, the option to customize with spicy sauces ensures diners can tailor their meals to personal preferences.
What sets Fatira apart is not just the food but the genuine atmosphere combined with attentive service, creating an experience that feels both welcoming and satisfying. For anyone eager to dive into Arabic cuisine in Magdeburg, Fatira promises a delightful journey through authentic flavors and cultural richness, reflected in every bite of their expertly crafted shawarma and other signature dishes.
“ This is a great place for authentic Arabic-style food. I really enjoyed their special shawarma and moutabal. The prices are very reasonable, and overall, it’s a wonderful spot to eat. ”
“ Fajita pizza is really nice. Price is also very reasonable ”
“ Well, Definitely worth it if you like Shawrma and Turkish Food. Great place for a spicy chicken Shawrma. Also the place is quite occupied and the service is decent. Recommended ”
“ I have been eating at Fatira Restaurant since 2024. My favorite item is the shawarma (€5), which is very affordable and tastes great. It comes with 1 slice of tomato, 1 slice of cucumber, and white sauce. I have tried several other dishes, but the shawarma remains my favorite. The baklava is also good, although it is a bit too sweet for my taste. After a few bites, it becomes overwhelming. The staff who prepare the food are always friendly and welcoming. Card payment is available, although there may be a minimum purchase amount, so it is worth asking before ordering. The restaurant can become very crowded during winter, and finding a seat is sometimes difficult. In summer, the indoor seating area can get quite warm, but there is outdoor seating available. My main criticism is the delivery service. Despite living only 4–6 minutes away by car, delivery often takes 40 minutes to over an hour, and the food frequently arrives only lukewarm. Another issue is that the delivery driver sometimes remains seated in the car and asks customers to come outside and collect the order themselves. I have had to walk to the parked car( 2-3 minutes walking distance, Although I have free parking just in front of by building but he parked at another place so I have to walk to get the food), where the food was simply handed over to me. This is not what I would normally expect from a delivery service in Germany. Overall, the food quality, reasonable prices, and friendly staff keep me coming back. However, the delivery service could definitely be improved. ”
“ It’s not that great, as in shawarma there is no veggies at all, only mayonnaise and chicken wrapped and if it’s you take in plate(teller) the veggies which they give are socked in vinegar so be ready for soury taste. You can ask for spicy sause, that would really help if you like spicy. ”
